Have you ever been in an emergency situation or natural disaster?
In 2022 I was is a flood that was hailed as being a 500 year flood. No one in my region had ever seen or read about a flood that reached the scale of this flood. I was stranded on top of a hill at 1:30 am with the rain beating down, lightening flashing, thunder booming; the flood water kept rising. I watched homes, cars and even school buses being swept away.
I had no way to communicate with anyone that wasn't on that hill with me. Cell phone towers were down. Landline phones we down. My mobile radio that was in my county vehicle was out of range of the repeater. We had no food. We had nothing safe to drink. Thankfully, no one had any life threatening emergencies or they would have been.... well you know.
I stayed on that hill from 1:30 am until about 7:30 am when the flood waters had went down enough to see the road.
From that point forward I resolved that I would do my best to never be that unprepared again.
